For anyone who could not get the flagship table, this is a complete and genuinely excellent Yountville itinerary.
The village holds several other highly regarded restaurants, including MICHELIN-recognised kitchens, all within the same short walk. Yountville's density of serious cooking is the highest in the country per resident.
Book these a week or two ahead in season; they are small and they fill.
Twenty minutes north brings a cluster of long-established wine-country restaurants, a superb market deli and one of the valley's best casual pizza kitchens.
This is where to eat lunch on a winery day rather than driving back south.
Fifteen minutes south, the town has the region's widest range — a food hall, serious wine bars, and restaurants at every price point.
It is the right destination for a group with different budgets and appetites.
Before: something light, early and unambitious. A bistro plate at the bar, not a second tasting menu.
After: honestly, breakfast. Plan nothing ambitious for the following evening either — a bakery lunch and a bowl of pasta is the correct recovery.
The flagship first, then any other tasting menu you want, then the casual restaurants a week ahead, then leave one meal entirely unbooked.
The unbooked meal is nearly always the one people remember.
