    The French Laundry Reservation Calendar

    There is no monthly drop and no secret date. The French Laundry releases one new day every night, which means the calendar question is really a question about which night you should be awake.

    How the rolling release works

    Count roughly sixty days forward from tonight. That is the date entering the system at midnight Pacific Time. Tomorrow night, the next day opens, and so on indefinitely.

    The practical consequence is that you never wait for a release event — you choose your target date, subtract sixty days, and set an alarm for that night. Everything else is preparation.

    • Release time: midnight Pacific, every night
    • Window: approximately 60 days ahead
    • Be signed in with a card saved before 11:55pm

    Which dates are hardest

    Friday and Saturday evenings in September and October — harvest season in Napa — are the most contested slots in the calendar, followed by Valentine's week, Thanksgiving weekend and the last two weeks of December.

    The easiest dates are Tuesday and Wednesday in January, February and the first half of March, when Napa is wet, quiet and, for a certain kind of visitor, at its best.

    Lunch, dinner and the days the restaurant serves

    Lunch service, where offered, typically runs on a limited set of days and is meaningfully easier to book than dinner. It is the same menu and the same kitchen, in daylight, in a room that feels different but no less serious.

    Check the current service pattern before planning: it changes seasonally, and the number of days the dining room opens is not constant through the year.

    Building a calendar strategy

    Flexibility across three consecutive dates roughly triples your chances. Flexibility on party size helps too — four covers are sometimes available at prime times when two are not.

    If you are travelling from abroad, book the restaurant first and the flights second. Reversing that order is the most expensive mistake in this entire process.

    After the release: the returns calendar

    A second, quieter calendar runs alongside the first. Prepaid tickets released back into inventory reappear steadily in the final seven to ten days before a date, with a noticeable cluster twenty-four to forty-eight hours out.

    Check at unsociable hours. Early morning Pacific and mid-afternoon weekdays are when returns sit unclaimed longest.

    Planning the rest of the trip around the date

    Once the date is confirmed, book the hotel immediately — Yountville rooms in harvest season disappear almost as fast as the restaurant does — and leave the day itself deliberately light.

    Wine tasting appointments the morning of a nine-course dinner are the classic scheduling error. Two tastings at most, finished by early afternoon.
